Hojicha also spelled Houjicha, is a popular tea that's excellent for digestion. In Japan, this tea is popular with young kids and the elderly for its low caffeine content. Low caffeine content is due to the tea leaves being roasted over high heat. This results in a light-bodied, brown liquor that has a soothing, earthy aroma.

ほうじ茶の淹れ方

HOW TO BREW Hojicha

1 | Heat fresh, filtered water until boiled. Let cool very slightly — water close to 203°F (95°C) is ideal for bringing out the fragrance and flavor in Hojicha.

2 | Pour water over 1 tablespoon of tea leaves per cup.

3 | Steep for 1-2 minutes. All of our teas can be steeped up to 3 times.

FOR ICED HOJICHA:
Simply add the desired amount of Hojicha tea leaves into a container or bottle and pour in boiling water. Let the tea steep and cool down before putting it in the fridge to chill. After 2 hours, the cold brew Hojicha is ready. Cold-brew tea lasts in the fridge for 2 to 3 days.

For a more mellow flavor, add water to your desired amount of Hojicha tea leaves and let steep in the fridge for 3 hours before drinking.

ほうじ茶タピオカミルクティー

Hojicha Bubble Milk tea

1 | In a small saucepan, boil the tapioca for 5 minutes or as per the directions.

2 | When ready, drain the water from the tapioca. Then stir in honey on the tapioca over low heat for a minute and set aside. Be sure to stir frequently to avoid burning.

3 | In another saucepan, pour the milk over the Hojicha loose tea. Stir gently and heat on the stove.

4 | Once the milk and tea start to boil, remove from fire and set aside.

5 | Combine the ingredients by scooping the tapioca and honey syrup into a cup and pour the Hojicha milk tea through a strainer to remove any loose leaves in the drink.

6 | Stir together and enjoy!
